Spinechiller - De Wolfe Records (DWS/LP3300) 1975


The ninth LP in my DAWN OF THE DEAD Library Music Revealed series is called SPINECHILLER by Jack Trombey from the DeWolfe Music Library. 





It contains the tracks "Uneasy Feeling", "Dark Forest", "The Mask of Death", "Waiting for the Man", "Spinechiller", "The Long Wait", "Red Sequence", "Clammy Hand", "Barrage", "Face at the Window", "On His Own", "Stealth" and "Omen" were all used as background music or elements in DAWN.

"Uneasy Feeling" can be heard at the police dock section of the movie and signals a sign of relief after Peter and Roger arrive at the dock,  join Fran and Stephen,  and the looters decide to leave them all alone.

"Dark Forest" can be heard when the man asks the group "Hey, ya got any cigarettes?" Then it plays later on as Fran takes care of Roger as he rests after the hunt is over.

"The Mask of Death" plays during the scene where the group takes a rest for a minute in the hideout and Roger and Peter have the "Hit and run" conversation. It later comes back during the scene where Roger gets bandaged up from his bites.

"Waiting for the Man" can be heard as Stephen loads his gun in the boiler room. It comes back again when the guys knock on the window in JC Penney's to "Let em know we're here". It also plays again in the scene in the elevator when Roger comes up and says "One stop shopping at your fingertips" this track also comes back on when the bikers decide to start the raid on the mall after the one biker says "You just fucked up real bad" then once again it comes back on when the lights come back on and Stephen is in the elevator shaft and gets shot. In the end it come back one more time as Peter reaches for the helicopter and climbs up.

"Spinechiller" plays over the scene where Peter wheels the cart to the main hallway entrance to the mall and Stephen comes out of the hallway door and two zombies attack him.

"The Long Wait" is heard as Peter and Roger discover that Roger left his bag and they drive back to get it and the blends into the next track "Red Sequence".

"Red Sequence" plays in the lead up part to Roger getting bit and provides tension until the bite and leads into the next track "Clammy Hand".

"Clammy Hand" plays right after the bite and over Roger's second bite.

"Barrage" plays under the entire taking the car scene. Locking the door, starting the car.

"Face At The Window" plays immediately after Peter says "We're going on a hunt" and shows the aftermath of the hunt.

"On His Own" plays under the scene of Fran learning to fly the helicopter.

"Stealth" is featured in the Extended Cut of the film only. It plays during the extended scene with Fran and Stephen at the police dock mixed with "Dark Forest"

"Omen" is featured in the Extended Cut of the film only when the looters appear at the airport and threaten Fran and Stephen. It is mixed with "Uneasy Feeling" as they talk to the looters beofre Peter and Roger arrive.
