The DAWN OF THE DEAD Library Music Revealed

I will be posting all the information you ever wanted to know about the library music used in DAWN OF THE DEAD. I will post pictures of the albums, post detailed information about each album, and post detailed information about each track used in the movie and where to find it in the movie. All information contained here refers to the U.S. Theatrical Cut of the movie. Additional info and tracks used in the Extended Cut of the movie will be provided and stated as such after all the U.S. Theatrical track information is listed for each album. I have done this in a way that can be understood by anyone in a simple manner using the information gathered together by the creator of the DAWN OF THE DEAD - Ultimate Soundtrack website at: http://www.bookofthedead.ws/dotd/

This blog will help anyone to understand exactly what is on each library music album and where to find it quickly in the movie. I did this so that I could add a description to each album individually without cross referencing multiple pages and documents found elsewhere and to clear up any misinformation out there on this subject. The GOBLIN music used in the movie will NOT be covered since this is only about the library music used in the film. Maybe I will cover it's use in the film at a later date. I hope you enjoy this.

Of course this project and the DAWN OF THE DEAD Ultimate Soundtrack could never have been done without the pioneering research and work of Christian Stavrakis. Chris started the ball rolling with the discovery and posting of the original cue sheets that were used during the creation of the sound mix for the film. Chris also gathered together much of the original library LPs and cobbled together the first real digital version of an Ultimate Soundtrack. He was a true innovator. Thank you so much for all your hard work and effort Chris.

I would also like to thank Darren (Boogiejuice) and Rob the creator of The DAWN OF THE DEAD Ultimate Soundtrack Project for all of their hard work. Rob broke down the entire movie into sound clips for identification and spent an enormous amount of time on his website which has been invaluable to me in making these blog posts. Darren and Rob also posted clips of these tracks on YouTube for everyone to hear. Thank you so much guys. Your work is appreciated.

A moment of thanks....

Hey DEADHEADS. I just wanted to say something really quick. I'd like to show my thanks and appreciation to two people that inspired me and made me want to share my appreciation for George Romero's movies, in particular DAWN OF THE DEAD. Those two people are Norman England and Matt Blazi. When the internet was young, I found their websites and discovered that they loved DAWN OF THE DEAD in the same way that I do and they showed me that any person could go to the filming locations from the movie and they showed me that there was a world out there full of cool collectibles related to this fantastic movie.

Norman's website is: http://www2.gol.com/users/noman/

Matt's website was at: http://www.wgonzombiewatch.com/

That domain name and site is currently inactive, but his site has now been reformulated in a new home at: http://www.dawnofthedead.co.uk/

These guys showed me the world of fandom associated with DAWN OF THE DEAD. I loved these two websites and still reference them to this day from time to time. As a result of seeing their websites, I decided to visit the movie's filming locations, I decided to start my own memorabilia collection. Then years later I got on Facebook and started the various groups that I administrate there and I began to do what they did in a new way with this new type of media and social interaction. I share my experiences, going to locations, I share my collectibles, and through that I hope to keep enthusiasm high and the appreciation of this movie and the other George Romero movies that I enjoy and love going strong. I do the things that I do to inspire others like these two guys inspired me. So there it is, I thank them in the most sincere way possible. Anyway, I just thought I should give them a shout out. Thanks guys.
Stay Scared,
Larry D.

The bridge goes to the Heinz History Center

Reprinted from the WTAE Website

MONROEVILLE, Pa. —Zombies invaded Monroeville Mall again on Wednesday after word spread quickly on social media that a piece of Pittsburgh movie history had found a safe, final resting place.

A small footbridge at the center of a nationwide preservation effort by zombie fans will be packed up and moved to the Heinz History Center in the Strip District.

Several people dressed up like the undead creatures at a news conference by mall officials to announce the move Wednesday.

The bridge is the last accessible feature of the mall visible in George Romero's 1978 horror classic, "Dawn of the Dead."

It is being removed as part of a multimillion-dollar renovation of the mall.

Romero has said he chose a mall for much of the film's undead action to serve as social commentary on mindless commercialism.

The Official THANK YOU to the fans and people responsible for SAVING the DAWN OF THE DEAD Bridge

As you now know, tomorrow is the ceremony at the Monroeville Mall where they will turn over the bridge to the Heinz History Center. It happens 24 hours from now, but before the page gets swamped with pictures and stories from the news tomorrow, I just wanted to take a moment to let you all know who was responsible for this whole movement to Save The DAWN OF THE DEAD Bridge. It was a total team effort, but a few people need to mentioned individually and thanked.

I have to give credit where credit is due.

FIRST, I have to thank all of you. You the fans have spoken up about saving this last part of the mall that you can see in the movie by signing the petition we made. Thank you for sharing links to the posts here and sharing links to the page, and sharing your pictures of the bridge on this page. It has been saved and preserved due to the efforts of this team of fans and friends.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT. WE DID IT!

The first person I have to thank is Daz Spooky, Facebook friend to many. He came up with the idea to start the page and the petition. He is a dedicated life long George Romero fan who lives in the UK and he visits Pittsburgh once a year for the Living Dead Festival and other events. Without him and his friendship, this would not have happened. Thank you Daz. YEAH MAN!

The second person I have to thank is Kate Davis, she is a writer for HorrorHound Magazine and fantastic artist. She wrote the petition for me since I was busy getting the page set up on Facebook and writing back to a ton of people as it started. With a bit of info from me, she whipped it together in no time flat. Thank you Kate for all your support and efforts. YOU ROCK!

The third person I have to thank and credit is Kevin Kriess, who is the curator of the Living Dead Museum in Evans City, PA. He accepted to be host of the bridge and take care of it if it was decided that it would go to him. He has been a great help in taking pictures of the bridge during it's demolition and by creating the museum which fans love to visit from all over the world. He also was interviewed in all the news stories and press surrounding this effort to save the bridge with the intent to help save it at any cost. Although it has now been decided that the bridge will be given to the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, PA. instead of the Living Dead Museum, we owe Kevin a huge debt in speaking for the fans and helping to make this seem like a legitimate thing and something that should be preserved. Thank you Kevin. THANKS FOR KEEPING THE DEAD ALIVE!
P.S. He is also running the LIVING DEAD WEEKEND Convention this coming October 9-11 in Evans City, PA featuring all your favorite zombies and characters from the best of George Romero's movies.
Check it out!

THANK YOU ALL FOR JOINING ME ON THIS QUEST TO SAVE THE DAWN BRIDGE. WE REALLY DID IT!

SAVE THE DAWN OF THE DEAD BRIDGE

It has come to my attention that this bridge which you see in the movie DAWN OF THE DEAD is being removed. It is one of the last recognizable parts of the mall that is featured in the movie. This decision to remove it is beyond our control already, but we would like to save it from being thrown out like trash. We wish to save it for fans to walk on forever. It is currently located in the Monroeville Mall where they made the movie DAWN OF THE DEAD, but it is being removed in a matter of DAYS. Please help to save it from the wrecking ball and give it a permanent place in the Heinz History Center or The Living Dead Museum, both in the Pittsburgh area. This is where it belongs. It should not be torn apart and given to scavengers or the trash heap. It should be carefully taken apart and restored in a museum for fans to see forever. Please show your support here in messages that we can show to the mall and the demolition crew so that we can save this precious artifact. It is a part of horror history that MUST be preserved. Please post to the following page to show your support of this cause:
