31 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WITH DAWN OF THE DEAD: DAY 16

Today's post features one of my re-creation and comparison photos, combining a rarely seen photo taken on set during the clean up of the mall, as seen in DAWN OF THE DEAD, with the modern day look at the same spot. You can clearly match the patterns on the marble on three of the marble columns in view in both of these shots.

The original photo here, is not only rarely seen, but it also shows the lesser seen bridge in the movie. Peter is walking over it in the picture here.  You only get to see two overhead shots of this bridge in the movie after the hero’s hunt. These two shots are in the montage of images which are supposed to be the hero’s views of the zombies lying on the ground and on this bridge, dead again, after their hunt.

This bridge, in the above photo, was the last remaining bridge, or fountain, or piece of foliage which was still in the center lane of the mall until modern times. It was removed in 2015.  This photo is interesting because you get a nice view of it and the foliage around it while also getting a great unseen view of the zombie cleanup effort, not seen fully in DAWN OF THE DEAD.

Each day this month I will be showing you something cool, rare, or even noteworthy concerning DAWN OF THE DEAD as a Christmas Present to the fans from me. I hope that you are enjoying this holiday look at DAWN OF THE DEAD.
