In the scene above you can see director, George Romero on the left side of the screen giving some direction to somebody off-camera. In the center you can see Tom Savini as his character “Blades” getting prepared for his shot where he cuts the head off of a zombie while he rides in the sidecar of a motorcycle. Driving the white motorcycle with sidecar is it’s owner “Sidecar John” Helbig. You can see this motorcycle and it’s rider all through the biker looting spree scenes, it’s always crashing into things, it’s actually pretty funny to see it keep crashing into things over and over again, once you realize it’s the same motorcycle causing all this havoc. Kevin Kriess of the Living Dead Museum now owns that motorcycle. Just over Sidecar John’s left shoulder is Cinefantastique magazine writer David Bartholomew wearing a light blue button up shirt. I don’t know who the other two people beside him are.
In both photos above, you can match the patterns on the marble behind George Romero from this view, with the patterns on the marble in the modern photo. It’s a definite match.
Each day this month I will be showing you something cool, rare, or even noteworthy concerning DAWN OF THE DEAD as a Christmas Present to the fans from me. I hope that you are enjoying this holiday look at DAWN OF THE DEAD.
