31 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS WITH DAWN OF THE DEAD: DAY 5

Today's post features another one of my infamous shot re-creation and comparisons. Of course with Christmas coming and with these posts being a part of a DAWN OF THE DEAD Christmas celebration, I had to recreate one of the few photos of George on set wearing a Santa outfit. In the original photo you can see the Sweater or Escalator zombie played by Clayton Hill on the right side of the picture staring at the camera. Right behind him is Christine Forrest as an Elf wearing a red hat and a green jacket. She has her back turned. Beside her in the center of the picture is George Romero himself wearing a Santa outfit. In case you don't know, George had decided to dress in a Santa outfit and his girlfriend Christine had decided to dress in an Elf outfit and they decided to join in on the looting of the mall in the movie. After they filmed their parts in the looting of the mall, at some point George decided that it might be a bit too silly to see a Santa and an Elf looting the mall. It's been said that he rethought it and that they seemed a bit out of place being with a bunch of bikers. So George pretty much cut them both out of the movie, but if you look close in the background of many scenes with the bikers running around the mall, you can see glimpses of George in his Santa outfit, many times actually.

Looking at these two pictures you can of course match the marble columns in the picture, especially the one in the back left of each picture. You can see the pattern on the marble pretty clear on that column and see that this is the same spot all these years later in the modern picture.

Each day this month I will be showing you something cool, rare, or even noteworthy concerning DAWN OF THE DEAD as a Christmas Present to the fans from me. I hope that you enjoy this holiday look at DAWN OF THE DEAD.
